Q. Who or what is Pilgrim International Limited and its history?
A. Pilgrim has operated as a Christian Media Organisation for about 50 years in Sydney, Australia. The new role for Pilgrim International Limited is now to provide support for Christian churches (and parachurch groups) to proclaim the holistic Gospel in the media and to communicate God’s truth. ‘Communication’ is the key word, both in our original and our continuing intention.
Consequently our aim is to promote effective Christian media activity (and other appropriate Christian action) in accord with the original dream of the Pilgrim team but confined to:
1. Promote and commend effective Christian media (Excellence) THE PILGRIM PRIZE
2. Stimulate useful Christian media action (Encouragement) Hence THE PILGRIM GRANTS

Q. How do I apply for The Pilgrim Prize?
A. Media excellence is the criteria of this annual event.

Q. How do I apply for a Pilgrim Grant?
A. These are also usually awarded annually. Their prime object is to encourage effective Christian media projects. Other Christian projects may be considered. Pilgrim has a two-step application process. See the Pilgrim Grants Guidelines.

Q. When is the deadline for submission of applications?
A. Applicants may submit a Preliminary Enquiry by email to Pilgrim at any time.
The Prize deadline is July, referring to activity in the previous fiscal year.
The grants are usually awarded at the beginning of each fiscal year and can apply to work yet to be done.

Q. Does Pilgrim accept applications from individuals?
A. Yes, individuals, churches, non-profit companies, business or clubs are eligible to apply for funding.

Q. What is the geographic scope of Pilgrim’s funding?
A. City, state, national or international is fine provided the Christian, media and other criteria are met.

Q. How much does Pilgrim distribute annually?
A. Distribution levels vary according to income received and available from investments.

Q. How much should I ask for?
A. The Pilgrim Prize is currently set at $10,000 annually. The Pilgrim Grants will vary as to available funds and how strongly the case is put for consideration. Applicants are best placed to determine an appropriate amount to be requested ($2,000 up).

Q. Can I ask for more than one year’s funding?
A. It is Pilgrim’s basic policy to provide one-off, catalytic funding to eligible projects. Multi-year funding generally will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Q.  May I arrange a time to meet with Pilgrim?
A. We ask that applicants for Encouragement Grants proceed through Stage One of the Application Process (i.e. submit a preliminary email enquiry as described) in the first instance.
Once we have reviewed your Preliminary Enquiry we may initiate a meeting with you as appropriate.

Q.  Is GST applicable on Pilgrim distributions?
A. No, the prize and grants are donations, but there may be tax implications for the recipients.

Q.  What happens if we get a Grant and cannot carry it out?
A. We expect the money will be refunded.
